Die Verhandelingen van het Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde (Abk. VKI; Abhandlungen des Königlichen Instituts für Sprachen-, Länder- und Völkerkunde) sind eine 1938 gegründete niederländische, anfangs schwerpunktmäßig sprachwissenschaftliche, geographische und ethnologische Reihe wissenschaftlicher Monographien und Sammelbände, in der bislang über 300 Bände veröffentlicht wurden.

Kurzeinführung

Die Bände sind überwiegend auf Niederländisch und Englisch verfasst, einige auch auf Deutsch. Herausgeber sind R.M.A.L. Hoefte[1] und David Kloos. Zahlreiche international renommierte Wissenschaftler haben zu der Reihe beigetragen. Es ist dem Verlag zufolge die am längsten laufende Reihe von Monographien und Sammelbänden zu den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften Südostasiens und insbesondere Indonesiens. Die Veröffentlichungen umfassen Klassiker ihres Fachgebiets sowie aktuelle moderne Wissenschaft. Heute liegen den Verlagsangaben zufolge die Schwerpunkte der Herausgeber auf Geschichte und Politik, Archäologie, Anthropologie und Urbanistik, Medien und Populärkultur sowie Literatur und Linguistik. Zwei Unterreihen – „Power and Place“ und „Southeast Asia Mediated“ – konzentrieren sich jeweils auf lokale Politik sowie Medien und Populärkultur.[2]
